The Remote Work Dilemma

Scheduling a Zoom or Teams meeting with global colleagues.

Our Timezone Overlap Calculator immediately identifies the perfect meeting window that won't require anyone to compromise their life-work balance.

How The Formula Works

We take both parties' working hours (e.g., 9-5) and translate them into Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). We then detect the mathematical intersection (the "overlap") of those two UTC windows. Finally, we convert that intersection back into your local times.

For example, if you are in New York (EST, UTC -5) and they are in London (GMT, UTC 0):

  • Time Difference: 5 hours (London is ahead).
  • Your 9:00 AM is their 2:00 PM.
  • Their 5:00 PM (end of day) is your 12:00 PM (noon).
  • Resulting Overlap: Three solid hours between NY 9am-12pm and London 2pm-5pm.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is UTC vs GMT?

GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is a time zone officially used in some European and African countries. UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is not a time zone, but a time standard that is the basis for civil time today. They share the exact same current time.

Does Daylight Saving Time affect this?

Yes! During Daylight Saving transitions, offset times briefly shift. Make sure you select the correct offset for the date of your proposed meeting.
