The Rowing Power Curve

Rowing is a unique sport where the power required to move increases cubically with speed. This means that to reduce your split time by just 10 seconds (e.g., from 2:00 to 1:50), you must output significantly more power.

The "Free" Speed Fallacy

At faster splits (sub 1:45), every additional second saved requires an exponential increase in wattage. Maintaining 350 Watts (approx 1:40 split) is twice as hard as maintaining 175 Watts (approx 2:06 split).
